Banned Books Week draws attention to censorship in our culture and the importance of intellectual freedom in our schools.  All of the books displayed were challenged (meaning someone attempted to get it removed from a school or public library or from public school curriculum) between 1990 and the present.  EV has five of the top ten most frequently challenged books from 2015 in its collection.

Cereality Homecoming Decorations!

Every year for homecoming each class takes their theme and makes it "real" in the hallways of EVHS.  This year our theme is cereal.  The seniors chose Lucky Charms, the Juniors Fruity Pebbles, The Sophomores Trix and the Freshmen Captain Crunch.  On Monday from 3-9PM their deco teams worked diligently to create a 3-D environment of fun to bring homecoming spirit to the student body.

Thank you to class advisers who were present to keep everyone safe and happy.  Thank you to the deco teams and class officers for all of their hard work.  Cougars - Happy Homecoming 2014!

I just wanted to articulate my deepest appreciation for all of your support. Whether it was coming out to the show, offering extra credit for attendance, or just simply helping to spread the word, it all made a huge difference. On Friday and Saturday night especially, as the kids were able to perform in front of two huge houses.

One of the things that makes EVHS such a special place is how enthused our students are for their peers. This was certainly the case this past weekend. So many in the audience were truly proud of their friends on stage, and for my actors to experience this type of admiration was special. Thank you to my fellow faculty members who came  to say hello and offer their support throughout the weekend. For the kids to see you there, it means more than you'll ever know. A million thanks!
